How should I spend my summer?

It is the season of graduation and school ending, and with the weather as nice as it is, it feels like blue. I’m not graduating, but I have friends who are and also my sister is graduating from high school!
I submitted my Shrek essay on Friday and went right to sleep at 11:30 p.m. Waking up with nothing on my homework to-do list was fairly freeing but also a very strange feeling. I’m not the type of person to enjoy a lot of free time; If I can’t do something productive, I don’t feel satisfied with my day. For example, I was informed the managing editor job I have for this summer will entail fewer hours than I was led to believe. Although I don’t “have to” get an additional part-time job, I think I will just as a way to keep busy. Maybe I’ll apply to be a maintenance worker at my apartment building, goodness knows they need a little help. Or maybe I’ll get a job at the University’s gym and work the 5:30-8:00 a.m. shift so I can have most of my day open. But then again, that defeats my original purpose of getting a part-time summer job… I will keep you all  updated as to the success of my fun little job hunt.
Speaking of my apartment, I moved into a new unit this week, which has been a hassle and whirlwind of a time. Last Wednesday I was studying with my roommate when we got a call saying our apartment is scheduled for some renovations. Apparently the plan is to fix some of the damage done by a storm that flooded most of the building way back in September. But we were only notified last week, then given only a few days to move. Luckily we didn’t have to move across the building, only up eight floors. So I guess it could have been worse.
Personally, I was excited about the move because we’ve been in our apartment for two years now, and I was looking forward to a change. My roommate was less enthused because the reason we resigned as early as we did was so we wouldn’t have to change apartment units–but there we were, moving eight floors. Oh well, there’s nothing we can do about it now. Time to just fill the apartment with plants and make it seem completely homey because that will definitely work.
So that has taken up the majority of my week. And without school or work to worry about, it’s been difficult keeping track of what day it is. Tuesday felt like Friday because all I did was putz around my room most of the day and make seven layer bars–although naturally they weren’t as good as my grandma’s or dad’s. They were still good, of course: after all, they are seven sugary levels of sweetness. Maybe I’ll just start baking a lot with all my newfound freedom. Probably not though, because even though I have friends, many of them are healthy and athletic and don’t want constant inputs of sugars and sweets, so they’re no fun.
