My 10-page report about 'Shrek'

School is over and while it might seem I have all the time in the world now, I don’t.
We had our last day of instructional classes on Monday, but that got cut short because of the protesters. The administration closed many of the main buildings at 2 p.m. on Monday because that’s when the protesters on campus said they were going to meet again and “escalate.” I don’t blame the school for shutting down the buildings as a precaution, but a lot of the protesters were peaceful. My friends and I walked by on our way home and there was just an encampment, no one talking or chanting and everything seemed relatively quiet.
The same buildings were closed again on Tuesday, and while I think a lot of students are understanding, some are a little more frustrated, as one of the closed buildings is Walter Library, one of the biggest libraries on campus. It’s finals season, which means we students are used to having around-the-clock access to the library, so having the building be shut down when the students need it to study can be a little frustrating.
I have stayed out of the way, though, mostly because it isn’t my scene. I went as far as Waseca to escape (I actually went home to do billing for the paper).
While I was home, I attended a fiftieth wedding anniversary for a relative. Congrats Johnny and Carol! It was really fun hearing your fun stories about your wedding night, the dress catching on fire (crazy!), and the drunk friends who provided some entertainment. I hope to one day make it as far as both of you.
We also ordered a root beer keg for Lizzie’s graduation party and discussed what type of food she wants. It was kind of weird to talk about - my little sister is all big and grown! It was funny discussing the details, because while it was less than four years ago, I don’t really remember a lot from my graduation party. Some people are just really good at remembering certain details about things, but I like to think I just live in the moment and remember the big stuff. I don’t know how many times my roommate, who I’ve been friends with since year one of college, will bring up little things that we did or said freshman year that I had totally forgotten about. It always ends with me gasping and saying, ‘Oh my gosh, I remember that!’ as it finally clicks.
Well, now we are mostly spending our time studying and doing work. I don’t have any test finals, but I do have a final project left for my social psychology class. The best part, is it is a ten-page paper on a movie analysis, so you know what movie I watched? The greatest movie ever - Shrek. So for the next couple days, I will be writing about how people are prejudiced against Shrek, poor guy.
My Determination: “Before this is over, I’m gonna need a whole lot of serious therapy. Look at my eye twitchin’.” – Donkey, Shrek
