Ready for cooler weather, football season

I could tell you about how I spent the weekend socializing, going on a hike with Jack’s coworkers, attending the CU Buffalo football home opener, staying up way too late at a joint birthday party. 

 

Or I could tell you about how ready I am for fall. This summer tied for third as Denver’s hottest summer on record. On August 3 was a record-breaking 103 degrees. Let’s just say I am ready for the cooler weather, wearing layers, football season, pumpkin spice lattes, and soups. 

 

Honestly, I am pretty excited about football season. I met a Bears fan at the CU game on Saturday and we bonded over our mutual desire to see the Packers lose on Sunday (which they thankfully did) and how we loved to get our Broncos friends fired up by teasing them about their team. 

 

And then there are the Vikings. I could say I am really hopeful for our quarterback Kyler Murray or that Justin Jefferson will finally have another successful season or that the genius of Brian Flores will take us far. But my hopes aren’t too high—it’s the Vikings. 

 

Now, the Golden Gophers on the other hand…Saturday didn’t leave me very optimistic about their season, although I have heard talk that this could be the year with Drake Lindsey at the helm. I find it harder to keep up with college football, although I know some people might prefer it to the NFL. 

 

I’m just excited to spend days snuggled up on the couch, working on the paper, and watching my fantasy team either disappoint me or surprise me with a win. It’ll be a bonus if we have a cute foster dog I can cuddle up with as well. 

 

This past week, Jack and I fostered another dog. Her name was Stacy’s Mom and she was a three-year-old, pit and terrier mix. She was the most well behaved foster we’ve ever had and I fell in love with her. She was a happy and adorable dog who loved to play with toys and be close to you. The best was that she was crate-trained and never barked, meaning she was the first foster we could actually leave alone for a few hours. 

 

We were fostering her because there had been something wrong with her leg and they were watching it. By the time I picked her up, she was off her meds, but they wanted us to watch her and make sure that it was actually healed. When I gave her back, I told them that I hadn’t seen anything (no limping or favoring of the other leg) and she was then put up on the adoption page. While I joked with my family that they should adopt her, I was glad to see that she was adopted only a day later. I hope she’s in a great home now.
