As we head further into spring, it is always good to reflect on the accomplishments and milestones achieved within our educational community to this point in the school year. From the excitement of our incoming kindergartners to the diligent efforts of our graduating seniors, the excellence and community values of our schools resonates with achievement, growth, and boundless potential.

We congratulate all of the students who participated for the success of our winter activities. From exhilarating sports competitions to captivating artistic performances, our students showcased their talents and dedication with unparalleled enthusiasm. Whether on the basketball court, the musical stage, or DECA or Robotics, they exemplified the values of teamwork, perseverance, and excellence. To all our students who participated, coached, or supported these endeavors, your commitment to excellence is truly commendable. It is vital to a school’s success that students identify a way to feel like they belong in their building, and activities play a large role in that focus. 

In addition to our extracurricular triumphs, it was equally positive to see our recently released 2023 graduation rate growth compared to previous years. 90% of our students at Waseca High School graduate in four years, well above the state average in this area. Students who attend the Area Learning Center often need more than four years to complete the requirements for their diploma, and we embrace this opportunity to serve these students as they work towards their goals, measuring our success by making sure they endure, not a timeline of completion. Graduation paves the way for greater opportunities and brighter futures for our students. Seeing growth in this area is a testament to the collective dedication and unwavering commitment to ensuring every student reaches graduation prepared and ready to explore options in life. 

One of the highlights of the season was our kindergarten roundup, where we had the pleasure of welcoming our newest students and their families into our educational family. Witnessing the excitement and anticipation in the eyes of these young learners fills us with joy and optimism for the future. As they take their first steps into Hartley and as Blue Jays, we stand ready to guide, support, and inspire them every step of the way. To our incoming kindergartners, welcome aboard – your adventure in learning begins now!

Looking ahead, our schools are abuzz with preparations for summer opportunities for students and the eagerly anticipated 2024-25 school year. From professional development workshops to curriculum planning sessions, our educators are dedicated to honing their craft and refining their skills to better serve our students. Simultaneously, our administrative teams are working hard to prepare for the transition into the new academic year.

Heading into the last two months of the school year, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our students, staff, families, and community members for your support and dedication to our shared mission of empowering each learner to thrive in an ever changing world. Together, we are preparing our students to be the best they can be as they head into that world.
