2022 Waseca Homecoming Royalty

Waseca Homecoming 2022 kicks off next week. Coronation is set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, September 29 at the high school gymnasium, when royalty will be crowned based on a vote of the student body grades 9-12. The new king and queen will reign over homecoming activities, including the parade scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Friday starting at the Waseca County Fairgrounds. The homecoming football game will be at 7 p.m. Friday against the Jordan Hubmen. 

This year’s candidates are Brenden Brown (son of Jeremy and Kim Brown); JD Delgado Jr. (son of JD Sr and Alberta Delgado); Payton Garza (son of Raul and Lacie Garza); Will King (son of Brad and Tina King); Oliver O'Brien (son of Ben and Ria O'Brien); Christian Rodriguez (son of Nathan and Debbie Rodriguez); Samantha Azure (daughter of Sam and Jamie Azure); Aubree Hansen (daughter of Steve and Barb Hansen); Charli Harguth (daughter of Jerry and April Harguth); CeCe Huttemier (daughter of John Huttemier and Kristi Hyink-Huttemier); Avery Madsen (daughter of Chris and Leslie Madsen) and Riley Ruedy (daughter of Wesley and Sara Ruedy). This year’s junior escorts are Ella Marlin (daughter of Paul and Steph Marlin) and Emmett Byron (son of Ben and Jenna Byron).

Schedule

Sunday, September 25: 11 a.m. First Annual Community JAY WALK! Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. Those attending are asked to park in the lot by the football field. Follow the walking trail past the softball fields to Loon Lake Park and back. This is approximately a 5k (3 mile) walk. Cost is $5 per walker/$20 per family (suggested donation). Proceeds will be used to support the projects and activities of the Wasea High School student council. Attendees will have a chance to meet homecoming royalty as well as members of this year’s Bluejay football team. 

Monday, September 26: 12:50 p.m. Pepfest for fall sports. Dress up day includes class colors (Seniors: camo/blaze orange; Juniors: silver/white; Sophomores: black; Freshmen: pink; 8th grade: red; 7th grade: green. Teachers will match their Connect group or the group they work with the most.)

Tuesday, September 27: Dress Up Day – Soccer Mom vs Grill Dad Day

Wednesday, September 28: 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Bean bag tournament under the lights at the football field (weather permitting); Dress up day – Duo Day/Twin Day- twin with your friend(s) or dress as a DUO (ex. Salt and Pepper, Batman and Robin, Peanut Butter and Jelly, Dumb and Dumber).

Thursday, September 29: Coronation practice (during Connect); 7:30 p.m. Coronation, $2 admission; Court pictures after coronation in PAC; 9  - 11 p.m. student dance in the commons. Dress up day theme: throwback Thursday - pick your decade. 

Friday, September 30: 12:50 p.m. Pep rally; 2 p.m. Parade/fairgrounds; 7 p.m. Homecoming football game versus Jordan Hubmen. Dress up day theme: blue and gold day.
