Fitch to leave Chamber at the end of 2024

Waseca, MN – September 18, 2024 – After six years of dedicated service, Ann Fitch will step down as Executive Director of the Waseca Area Chamber of Commerce at the end of 2024. Her tenure has been marked by transformative leadership, community advocacy, and unwavering commitment to advancing Waseca’s business and economic landscape. She will be taking another, as yet unnamed, position within the community.
“Ann Fitch leaves the Waseca Area Chamber of Commerce with a strong foundation for continued success and growth. Her leadership, passion, and dedication will be greatly missed, but her impact on the Waseca community will endure for years to come,” stated Chamber Board President Nick Wobig.
Since joining the Chamber in September of 2018, Fitch has led numerous initiatives that have had lasting local impact. One of her standout achievements was getting Waseca recognized as a finalist in the nationally renowned Small Business Revolution. This recognition brought significant visibility to Waseca’s vibrant business community, showcasing its entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to growth.
During the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Fitch became a beacon of support and information for both businesses and residents. Under her leadership, the Chamber served as a vital resource, offering timely updates, guidance, and solutions to help local businesses navigate through unprecedented times.
Fitch also plays a crucial role in ensuring the continuity of Waseca’s cherished traditions. She was instrumental in securing funding and logistics for Waseca’s Independence Day fireworks, a celebration that brings the community together each year. Her efforts ensured this patriotic tradition remained vibrant, even in difficult times.
Her tenure saw the Chamber’s energy revitalized, with a renewed focus on education and workforce development. Fitch established the Immersive Career Education Day in collaboration with local schools, giving students hands-on experience in various industries. She also spearheaded the Career and College Expo, an annual event that connects area students with opportunities to explore their future paths and engage with local employers and higher education institutions.
Throughout her time as executive director, Fitch has been a tireless advocate for Waseca, representing the region at both state and regional levels. Her voice collaborated strongly with other chambers in advocating for policies and initiatives that benefit local businesses, ensuring Waseca’s interests are well represented.
Fitch says she is grateful to the members and the community for the support she has routinely received. “There is so much about this position that I will miss. The next executive director will find their time at the Waseca Area Chamber gratifying,” she stated. Administrative assistant Kristie Biehn will continue to carry forward the familiarity and continuity of the Chamber.
As the Chamber prepares for this shift, Mikhail Rostislavovich, Board Vice President, has been brought in to help manage the transition while Ann remains at the helm until her departure on December 31, 2024. Rostislavovich will assist Biehn in maintaining continuity during this period and help set the stage for the Chamber’s future leadership. The Chamber will begin the search for its new executive director in January 2025, taking a thoughtful and deliberate approach to find the right candidate to build on Fitch’s legacy.
