Grace Lutheran breakfast centers around bicycles

More than 100 people attended Grace Lutheran Church’s “Pancakes for Pastor’s Pedal” breakfast the morning of Sunday, June 28.

 

“We had every table full this morning,” commented Robin Dulas as she looked around the dining room. She was standing next to Pastor Jillene Gallatin who added, “We had 12 tables set up. We served pancakes, sausage, coffee, juice and water.” There was no set cost for the breakfast; free-will offerings were accepted instead. 

 

Pastor Gallatin explained the event’s purpose: “I will be riding a bike in the Habitat for Humanity 40-mile ‘Bike, Build, Home 500’ fundraiser. It will happen in July and is a seven-day long event, but I will only be in it for a single day.” Gallatin will also be riding alongside Sandra Herman, the CEO of Habitat for Humanity. She continued, “The rides take a different route each day, departing from and returning to Mankato.” Any money she raises in pledges or donations, as well as the income for the breakfast, will go to support Habitat for Humanity.

 

Also for sale during the breakfast were raffle tickets available for one man’s, one woman’s, one boy’s, and one girl’s bike. Continued Pastor Gallatin, “The Grace Lutheran Endowment fund paid for the bikes. The raffle was our attempt to get guests through the door. Thrivent Financial bought the pancake mix, the butter, syrup and sausage.”
