Great Waseca band garage sale
Thu, 08/17/2023 - 5:31pm
The Waseca Marching Jays’ annual garage sale fundraiser was held at the 4H building in the Waseca Fairgrounds last Thursday through Saturday. One change from previous years was the addition of a Thursday opening, which had a $1 admission fee for early access to the bargain-priced items on sale.
In addition to helping manage the sale, the Marching Jays completed their band camp last week. On Friday, the band marched from Bomgaar’s to the fairgrounds in an informal exhibition.
Returning from last year, a cardboard cutout with Waseca Band director Devon Lawrence’s face on it greeted guests as they entered the 4H building. Several parents volunteered to help with the sale throughout the weekend, including Jaime Nevalainen and Jolene Komer.
The Waseca Marching Jays’ competition season will begin at the Minnesota State Fair on August 27. The band will continue to compete throughout September and appear at the Waseca Marching Classic on September 23.
