Hartley school working on numerous projects

During their Feb. 19 meeting, Hartley Principal Ben O’Brien spoke to the members of the Waseca school board about the vision card for the Hartley site, which he described as a ‘break-off’ of that of the district in terms of goals for students, student support, academic programming, and teaching and learning.

O’Brien explained the vision statements aligning under each section; READ Act goals as prescribed by the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) for grades  K-3, continuing the Character Strong Social Emotional curriculum for students, continuing to pilot several math teaching programs with the goal of making a K-6 curriculum purchase in the spring of 2026, and Professional Learning Communities for teaching staff focused on the essential questions around data and instruction.

District Business Manager Andrew Adams  gave a brief financial update; the revised budget will come before the board at the end of March. Formerly an auditor in a CPA firm, Adams became the business manager first at  the Medford school district, then St. Paul Public Schools and most recently Eden Prairie  before arriving at Waseca.

The next work session is on March 5 at the Junior/Senior High School.
