A well-attended Burger and Fish Fry at the Waseca American Legion the evening of Friday, March 20, was hosted by the Sons of the American Legion. Outside, the Legion parking lot was full; inside it was shoulder to shoulder with people scrambling to find places to sit while waiting for their orders to arrive.
Those who made it inside and were lucky enough to find a seat were treated during their dining to musical selections from both the Waseca Junior and Senior High School jazz bands. Some of those high school kids not playing up on stage were busy bringing orders to people or helping out by clearing tables or taking orders. There was also a meat raffle going in the lounge side of the building where the adult beverages were being served, and most of those seats were also taken.
The young musicians, who performed until 7:30, were directed by high school band leaders Devon Lawrence and Anders Peterson. Afterward, musician TJ Brown took over on stage in the lounge.
