Land of 10,000 eggs

The Clear Lake Easter Egg Hunt took place over a chilly and windy Saturday, April 4. The thermometer indicated a temperature of 36 degrees, but if the cold bothered the little ones, they didn’t show it as they ran, jumped, screamed and laughed while gathering up little plastic multicolored eggs scattered throughout the park.

 

Event organizers Molly Conway and Jen Burt were on hand supervising the activity. Said Conway, “We have around 10,000 eggs here today and lots of little children to help us clean them up. The kids are itching to get started but we’re on a schedule, 11 a.m. is for kids ages 0 to 3, 11:10 is for kids 4 to 6 and 11:20 is for kids 7 to 10. We have empty totes scattered around the park for those parents who don’t want to take the plastic eggs home, and don’t worry, we can use them again.”

 

The children were allowed to grab 10 eggs on their first run, then take a break for a few minutes so every child could get at least 10. Once everyone got their chance, the kids were allowed to grab as many as they wanted. The majority of the eggs were filled with candy, but thanks to donations, some of the eggs had strips of paper in them naming specific prizes which could be picked up . At the baseball field were prizes including kites, basketball sets, painting sets, makeup kits, a pottery set, and more. Said Conway, “Thanks to donations from Keen Bank, Minnwest Bank, Katie Gonzales (State Farm), and the Sleigh and Cutter Festival, those children lucky enough to find the lucky eggs got prizes instead of candy.” There was a line leading up to the baseball stands with parents lifting their kids up, prize paper in hand to claim their prizes.

 

Conway continued, “We want to say thanks to Jasmine Kotek; she’s a teacher at Faribault Middle School. Her students helped to fill all of these eggs for today and she deserves credit because we couldn’t have done it without her.” Local celebrities Miss Sleigh and Cutter Teen, Ariel Anhalt and Miss South Central Teen, Lexie Kiefer were there wrapped in their winter gear, smiling and trying to stay warm.
