One vehicle accident leads to fatality

Ronald Kenneth Maas, 57, of Mapelton, was killed in a single-vehicle accident after 10 p.m. on Friday, May 17. The accident scene was southwest of Waseca in the 6000 block of County Road 9 in St Mary Township.

Upon arrival that night, members of the Waseca County Sheriff’s Office made contact with Maas who was the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle.  Life saving efforts were performed, but he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Preliminary investigation revealed the vehicle was traveling eastbound on County Road 9, left the roadway, struck a driveway, and rolled before coming to a rest. Further investigation into the cause of the accident is continuing.

The Waseca County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Waseca Fire Department, North Memorial Ambulance Service, and the Minnesota State Patrol.
