Past and Present's clearance benefits Food Shelf

As Past and Present closes after 28½ years of collecting and selling, owner Sandi Prange turned her final clearance day into a meaningful give-back for the community that supported her for decades.

 

After five months of retirement and closing sales, she realized there were still many items remaining. Rather than extending the process, she opened the doors one last time and gave remaining items away to bring her long-running business chapter to a heartfelt close—while inviting guests to support the Waseca Area Food Shelf through food and monetary donations.

 

“After 28½ years of collecting and selling, retiring and closing the business turned out to be more than expected,” said Sandi. “There were so many items left after five months of sales, we decided to open the doors and give them away to finish with the closing. It was Randy’s idea to make the clearance on Saturday to benefit the Waseca Food Shelf. This made total sense to give back to the community that gave us so much.”

 

The clearance event, held Saturday, December 13, resulted in both food and monetary donations for the Waseca Area Food Shelf.

 

“For the Waseca Area Food Shelf to benefit from food and monetary donations that were received from Past and Present’s clearance on Saturday, December 13 shows the true meaning of the Christmas season,” said Cindy Kolander, Executive Director of the Neighborhood Service Center. “Thank you to Randy and Sandi for your thoughtful contribution of supporting our food shelf and giving back to the community. This donation aligns with our mission of helping others—and this donation will provide food support to families that need it the most.”
