At the June 18 meeting of the Waseca school board, Superintendent Erik Hudspith shared a summary of the activities going on within the school buildings during summer months. These included budget planning for the district’s next fiscal year and the strategic plan review. Hudspith reminded the board about signing up to sit at the district’s booth at the county fair.
Business manager Andrew Adams gave a presentation of the preliminary 2026-27 school year budget. A decision to spend down the unassigned general fund dollars for general expenses was made, decreasing the percentage from 21% to 18.5% which is still within district policy.
Other action items included approving the substitute pay rates for 2026-27, the cancellation of the July 2 work session due to its proximity to the holiday, and approving the dates for filing affidavits of candidacy for school board. The next regular board meeting is July 16.
