St. Ann’s Catholic Church and Trinity Lutheran hold Life Chain

An Oct. 4 “Life Chain” event in Janesville was supported by parishioners from St. Ann Catholic Church, Trinity Lutheran Church, and Janesville Area Lutherans for Life. Sign holders stood along Old Hwy 14 or Main Street in Janesville.
According to an online source, “Life Chain is a peaceful, prayerful public witness of pro-life Americans standing in remembrance of 62 million lives lost to abortion, praying for our nation, for people in crisis situations and for an end to abortion. It is a visual statement of solidarity by the Christian community that abortion kills children, hurts women and men, and that the Church supports the sanctity of human life from the moment of conception to natural death.”
Most of the support was out in front of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, some was along Main Street but there were also Eugenia Stockman and Linda Fetchenhier of Trinity Lutheran passing out signs in front of Trinity. Stockman said, “We’re part of the Lutherans for Life group. Some of the people driving by, they look at us funny, but I just need to think of my two children and the two from Korea I adopted, then I don’t mind.” She thought for a moment about what she might want to say to a young woman faced with an unplanned pregnancy and she said, “If I could tell her anything it would be, God still has a plan for you, and I promise it’s better than what you think it is.” Fetchenhier added, “I had one child, a boy, and he has blessed me with four grandsons.” As they spoke, kids in the jungle gym equipment over at the JWP High School could be heard playing and laughing, a further reminder of what can come from having children.
