The Starfire makes Christmas official

The Starfire Event Center in Waseca held its Winter Wonderland event on Saturday, Dec. 6. The vendors, from all over southern Minnesota, were wall to wall and all of them had something to do with the holiday season, making for a very cheerful Christmas happening.

Among those arriving at the event were Eric, his wife Jordan and their son Braxtin, who had come with Christmas on their minds. Said Eric, “We thought we’d come and check it out, take the little guy with us and see what we see.”

 

The first vendor inside the door was Bee Serene, selling handmade crafts, coffee cups, mouse pads, chap sticks, lotions and soaps. Casey Voneschen was working behind the counter and said, “Me and my roommate started doing this; we sell just about everything you can think of. You name it, we got it.”

 

April’s Crafty Space customizes tumblers, wind spinners, car coasters, ornaments, memory bears and much more. Quilt Creations and More focuses mostly on quilts. Corissa’s Creations was unique in that she will make a fancy cake, then teach a class on how to make that same cake, “I get people to sign up so they can make it look like it’s professionally made.” The cake on display had M&Ms and pink lines with white frosting. Mairaid Orrie had sturdy cloth bowls and baskets she made by hand using a coil design. B & D Country Gardens was selling sweet rosettes and canned goods, pickles, salsas and relishes.

 

The Cozy Candle Co. was a seller of candles, but in the back were special candles made out of old bread bowls. Quaal Designs sold custom signs. Bonnie’s Creation was a seller of wreaths and jewelry. There were also handmade angels and lots of them, she even had a story about seeing an angel once when she was down south, which kind of got her hooked on the angel design. Grandma’s Krunchie Creations were freeze dried items like candies, Oreo cookies and other eatables. Jamie McShane was selling quilts, mugs, ceramics and paintings.

 

Janae’s Wacky Workshop had wood puzzles and other wood inspired totems. There was also an impossible puzzle that consisted of a bag of sawdust, which is a humorous running gag. Scentsy Wickless focuses on candles. Penny’s Pretty Boots were something wonderful to look at. Natalie of Natalie’s Baked Goods said, “I focus on cookies and Norwegian baking.” Lori Arnold, who has been selling Mary Kay for the past 31 years said, “In my time with Mary Kay, I have seen plenty of changes in the company.”

 

Grandma D’s homemade crafts. Crystal Myers of Crochet, Critters and Chaos, reports that her motto is, “Crafting a life full of joy and personality by turning strings into things.” Wendy Johnson doesn’t have a business name, but she does embroidery on jean jackets, towels and children’s matching games, (think puzzles for babies). MKC makes flour-less monster cookies, (and she was giving out free samples). Keck’s Sweets and Treats sells freeze-dried goods. Connie Grande was selling wreaths, swags, and centerpieces, all with fresh pine green branches. There was something for everyone at the Starfire Winter Wonderland event.
