Waldorf City Park improves, expands

New all-accessible equipment including a central play structure, a merry-go-round, swings, see-saw, log crawl tunnel and fire engine and tractor ride-ons is being installed this week at the Waldorf City Park; installation began on Aug. 4.
With the addition of funds from a fundraiser meal sponsored by First Lutheran Church of Waldorf the evening of July 29, planners and organizers have received more than $67,000 in donations. Fundraising efforts will continue until the goal of $123,000 is reached.
City council member Missy Sorbo has worked extensively with the project, and says she believes the whole community will find the updated park an inviting place to spend time outdoors. She also wants to acknowledge the many grants the city has received toward the project. They include Taylor Family Farms Foundation, $25,000; Waseca Area Foundation Rosenau Legacy of Angels Fund, $5,000; MinnWest Bank, $5,000; Waldorf Fire Department, $10,000; Crystal Valley Cooperative, $2,000; Thrivent, $1,500; Waldorf First Lutheran Church $661.20; Bollig Engineering, $150; and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Waldorf, $2,500.
