WHS Spanish, art students take trip to Spain, France

A group of 20 students and chaperones from Waseca has recently returned from a trip abroad, visiting Madrid, Barcelona, and Paris.
These students, chaperones, and teachers spent ten days in Europe in June, arriving home June 23. The combination of Spanish and art students from Waseca High School spent four days in Madrid, Spain, two days in Barcelona, Spain, and then three days in Paris, France, before the long flight back to Minnesota.
The trip was organized by the two high school Spanish teachers, Mary Gilson and Nancy Kaplan, along with art teacher Jen Popp. While summer trips of this type have previously been scheduled every three or four years, this year’s was different: It included a combination of students from both Spanish and art classes on what had previously always been for language students.
High school student Britney Ross said that she loved the trip, especially Paris. “It felt like a whole different world over there,” Ross said. “Overall, the best part was our tour guide Paqui and all the things we learned such as the royal families and the history and culture of these beautiful places.”
