Gymnasts win dual

The Waseca High School gymnastics teams celebrated their first victory of the season in defeating Kasson-Mantorville-Triton Tuesday, Dec. 20.

The varsity won with a 123.95 score and junior varsity scored 101.75.

Freshman Layla Keith took first place in overall with a 33.2 score, with junior Lindy Caldwell in 4th with 30.55 and eighth-grader Elli Hoban in 5th with a 29.5.

It was a great comeback for junior varsity gymnast Avery Carda, who was out early in the season with a concussion. She won the all-around while senior Katheryn Kofstad took third place on the balance beam with a 7.475 score.

Th Bluejays’ schedule since then has been quiet. Their next meet will be the Live Fit Invitational in Fairmont Saturday, Jan. 7 where they will face Fairmont-Martin County West, Blue Earth Area, and Jackson County Central.
