Braves win two of three games

Call it a late-season surge if you like.
That's how it appears for the Waseca Braves amateur baseball team.
The Braves picked up two wins in three games this past week, the most recent a 7-1 triumph at Janesville Sunday afternoon.
"It was a nice, clean win for us," said Braves coach Tink Larson.
Right-hander Tyson Reger was in complete control from the mound, and he and Keato Roeker took control of the hitting department.
Between them, they had nine hits in 10 at bats and scored five of the seven runs.
Ironically, the only out they made was the hardest hit ball of the 10 at bats, a line drive to deep center field by Reger.
Roeker led a 15-hit Waseca attack going 5-for-5. Rger was 4-for-5. Peyton Garza and Seth Anderson contributed two hits apiece, Cody Huiras one.
The Braves committed one fielding error and stranded nine baserunners.
The Gators had four hits and three errors, stranging four.
The Braves hosted the Stewartville Sharks Friday, July 10 and dropped a 13-7 decision at Larson Field.
"It was one of the most boring games in a long time," said Larson. "It was about like the Cannon Falls game early in the season. We just have up too many free bases, 15 walks."
The Braves totaled eight hits, three by Logan Reger and two by Tyson Reger. Roeker, Kelvin Nelson and Garza had one hit apiece.
The Braves left 10 men stranded on base while committing three errors.
Roeker started on the mound and took the loss. Hoehn, Cromer and Garza also pitched.
Two nights earlier, the Braves faced St. Peter at Larson Field and won 8-5.
Logan Reger made his Braves’ pitching debut and went five good innings before turning it over to his brother for the final two frames.
Huiras was 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Logan Reger, Garza and Sebastian Teague had one hit each.
"It was a nice win," said Larson. "I don’t remember getting an eight-run first inning before, but it was sure nice to see."
The Braves took advantage of some St. Peter errors in that first inning and then did very little with the bats after that.
"Huiras has been a nice addition to the team this year," said Larson.
After a July 15 home game, the Braves host Rochester Friday, July 17 at 7:30 and play Sunday, July 19 at 2 at Waterville.
