Waseca Legion offering free breakfast for all county first responders

The Waseca Legion, Legion Auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion (SAL) are sponsoring a Heroes Appreciation Breakfast the morning of Sunday, Sept. 20 from 8 a.m. until noon at the American Legion Hall.

 

The first item on the menu is gratitude, followed by pancakes, french toast, eggs, and everything else one would expect. All county emergency medical workers, firefighters, deputies and police officers will eat at no cost to themselves. Others accompanying them will be asked to pay the standard admission price: $12 for adults, $8 for children 12 and under. 

 

Members of the public are encouraged to attend for a chance to express their gratitude and, of course, to enjoy the meal.

 

Bruce Tappe, SAL president, explains the event was arranged as close to September 11 as schedules allowed, and is meant to honor and thank first responders for the work they do, and for the risks they are willing to take on behalf of county residents.

 

Members of the Legion, Auxiliary and SAL will be on hand cooking, serving and cleaning up as the morning progresses. Donations of food  are being solicited from Hy-Vee of Owatonna and Kwik Trip.

 

“We decided this would be a very visible, clear way of expressing our thanks,” said Tappe.  “We got the word out to all the agencies around the county, and I hope we’ll see nearly all the first responders who help keep us safe.”
