Clayton Oslund

Clayton Richard Oslund, age 90, passed away on September 4, 2026, at Diamond Willow in Proctor Minnesota.

 

Clayton was born December 31, 1935, to Chester A. Oslund and Mabel A. (Peterson) Oslund in Solway, MN. He graduated from Bemidji High School. He married the love of his life, Mildred Gustafsson at the Solway Log Chapel on September 24, 1957. Thay had one son Gordon.

 

Clayton was a lifetime teacher, researcher and author, pursuing further education at the University of Minnesota, University of North Dakota - Grand Forks and the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. Ultimately, he earned a PhD in Plant Physiology from the University of Minnesota in St. Paul. His passion was with plants and gardening, travel and photography. He loved to share his kind heart and passions with everyone he encountered.

 

He is survived by his son Gordon (Julie) Oslund of Venice, FL, sister Joanne Peterson of Asheboro, NC, his two step grandchildren Natalie Norris of Mound, MN and Brett (Rebecca) Prescher of Waseca, MN. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife Millie, his parents, sister Loretta Lorshbough of Pinewood, MN, brother-in-law Duane Lorshbough of Pinewood and his brother-in-law Richard Peterson of Asheboro, NC.

 

A special thank you is extended from the family to Clayton's St. Croix Hospice caregivers. Their heartfelt support and care for him was invaluable. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Hospice Support Foundation.

 

A private interment will be at a date to be determined at the Solway Cemetery.
