Peggy Reed

Peggy Ione (Halstead) Reed, age 77, of Janesville passed away on October 12, 2026, at Whispering Creek Nursing Home in Janesville.

 

Peggy was born on April 13, 1949, in Dawson to Lester and Amy (Mealman) Halstead. She attended Janesville Public Schools. She grew up to build a life centered around family, friendships, and the activities she enjoyed. She was united in marriage to Wendall Abraham. Together they had three daughters, and later divorced.

 

On August 8, 1995, Peggy married Thomas Reed. Together, they shared many years of life and family memories.

 

Peggy enjoyed bowling, a hobby she participated in for approximately 40 years. She also enjoyed crafting with friends, dancing, making photo albums, driving around town, watching races, and attending family dinners with her siblings. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Janesville and was a blood donor. Her interests and connections with others were an important part of her life.

 

Peggy's family was an important part of her life. She will be remembered by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all those who shared in her life's journey.

 

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Reed; children, Wendy (Lowell) Bronstad, Fay Abraham, Julie Carlson, Clint Johnson (Marcia Kral); grandchildren, Ashley Sydnes, Lowell Bronstad Jr. (Kelly Wendler), Megan Bronstad (Robert Shifflett), Lexi Bronstad (Kaleb More), Zabrina Bronstad (Walker Kruse), Lester Bronstad, Katelyn Ziemke (Jack Mertins), and Kadyn Ziemke, Dustin (Kristin) Abraham, Lindsey Jackson (Andrew Evans), Logan (Brittany) Abraham, Isaiah Abraham, Elizabeth (Xander) Hilburn, Amanda Carlson (Gregor Schultz), Tyler (Brittney) Carlson, Kyle Carlson (Meryah Burfield), Tristen (Jaclyn) Johnson, Trey (Lauren) Johnson, Taylor Johnson, Taya Johnson, Tim Johnson, Tanner (Zoey) Johnson, Torey Johnson, Tayte Johnson; and her great-grandchildren, Taylor, Tamyah, Zaeveon, Phoenix, Brody, Gavin, Zach, Blake, Carly, Daunte, Willie, Ravid Jr., Cyrus, Aniyah, Liam, Mara, Averie, Emory, Elijah. She is also survived by her siblings, Ervin (Sharon) Halstead, Diane Vogt (Rich Olson), Darla (Lonny) Zell; in-laws, Darlene Halstead, Bob (Sandy) Reed, Kenny (Sherry) Reed, Mary Roach, Dan (Jane) Reed, Elaine (Jim) Springer, Eileen Reed, Brian Reed, Kathy (Jim) Bastian, Elizabeth (Tom) Bastian, Barb Reed.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Perry Halstead, Al Halstead; brothers-in-law, Donald Vogt, Jerry Reed; and nephew, Bill Halstead.

 

Visitation for Peggy was from 4 - 7 PM on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at the Janesville Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

 

Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 15, 2026 at Janesville United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Tivoli Cemetery in Eagle Lake.
