Gerald Rocca

Gerald Rocca

Gerald Thomas Rocca, known to most as "Rock" or "Gerry," passed away on May 13, 2026, at the age of 63. A native of lowa City, Gerry was born on September 16, 1962, to Shirley and Phil Rocca Sr.

Gerry "Rock" graduated from City High School in lowa City with the Class of 1981. During his 30-year career with the federal prison system, he and his family moved around before eventually landing in Waseca, MN. Around Waseca, many knew him from the youth football field or wrestling mat, dance studio (owned by Sharri), Waseca High School cheer events, or the Eagles Club where he freely gave his time and energy. He retired in Fernandina Beach, FL, with plenty of crazy stories and the kind of humor that could light up any room.

But, of all the titles he held in life, his favorites were husband, dad, and most recently, "Grandpa Rock".

He found joy in life's simple pleasures: crossword puzzles, walking his dog, bike rides, camping, reading, and spending time with the people he loved most. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, and lowa Hawkeyes, and found much joy in rooting against the Green Bay Packers. Once you were in his circle, you were family for life. He never missed a birthday or weekly call. He showed his love through sarcasm, jokes, teasing, and always being there when it mattered.

Gerry is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Sharri, and two daughters Allison Koziol (Matt and grandson Boone) of Canton, GA, and Tiffany Sherman (Brian) of Jacksonville, FL. He is also survived by his older brother Andy Rocca (Terri and sons Nick, Joel, Ben), younger brother Phil Rocca Jr. (Philip III, Paige, Peter); aunt and uncles, James Rocca, Loretta (James) Clark, and Mike (Beryl) Rooca; Father-in-Law, Fred Kamrath, nephew and niece Bradley Jr. and Brigette Kamrath; and two grandchildren on the way.

He is preceded in death by his Mother-in-Law, Rose Marie Kamrath, Brother-in-Law, Bradley Kamrath Sr., nephew, Bryce Kamrath, his mother Shirley Rocca, and father Phil Rocca Sr.

A life celebration will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, June 5, 2026 at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, lowa City. Friends are welcome to join the family at The Kirkwood Room, next to the funeral home, following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials donations may be directed to the Waseca Area Foundation, 501 E. Elm Ave, Waseca, MN, 56093

or online at wasecaareafoundation.org. In memo, please note Gerry Rocca. Donations will benefit the Waseca Football and Wrestling Programs.
