John Priebe

John Edward Priebe, age 78, of Waseca died peacefully while residing at Lake Shore Inn Rehabilitation Center in Waseca. 
Born on December 15, 1944, in Waseca, he was the son of John W. and Mabel (Ewest) Priebe. John attended Waseca Public School, graduating with the class of 1962. Following his education, he enlisted into the United States Army where he was stations at Fort Polk in Louisiana. On December 19, 1964, John was united in marriage to Macia Ann Paulson at First Congregational Church in Waseca. Together they began their married life in Mankato for a short time while John continued his education in business. They spent the next 10 years living in the cities until John and Marcia made their home in Waseca. John worked for many years at Brown Printing in Waseca while farming alongside his brother, before starting Priebe Financial, retiring in 2004. 
John enjoyed traveling, hiking, wintering in Arizona, playing cards and watching NASCAR. He especially enjoyed following his grandchildren in their various sporting events. John was proud to have run in Grandmas Marathon in Duluth as well as various 5K’s throughout the state. John was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Wilton Township, Waseca County where he served as an elder. He was also a member of Waseca Rotary Club and served on the Waseca School Board. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, caring father and loving grandfather. Blessed be his memory. 
John is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Marcia; sons: Jim (special friend, Laurie Mariner) and Justin both of Waseca; grandchildren: Jovae Priebe, Jalea (Eric) Spies, Zach Smith, Ben Priebe and R.P. Priebe; great grandchildren: Kyra and Kendrich Spies, Kendyl Priebe, and Baby Spies; sisters-in-law: Yvonne Priebe, IveLee (Norm) Wolfe, Dorothy Ihrke, Ilene (Bob) Nikoley, Diane Anderson, and Noreen Paulson; brother-in-law, Dale (Linda) Paulson; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, John P. Priebe; grandchildren in infancy, Noah and Samuel Priebe; and brothers, Gerald and Dennis Priebe. 
Visitation will be from 3:00 – 6:00 PM on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at the State Street Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service in Waseca. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. 
Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM on Monday, August 21, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wilton Township, Waseca County. Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery.
