Ken Gerdes

Kendall Alan Gerdes passed away on July 28, 2022, after 10 months of illness. Born in Mexico, Missouri, on October 26, 1940, Ken grew up in Waseca, Minnesota. He attended Dartmouth College, then medical school at the University of Minnesota. He later set up private practices in Northeast Harbor, Maine, and Denver, Colorado. After retirement he moved to Portland, Oregon. 

Ken had an adventurous spirit and loved biking, hiking, and travel. He was a kind and compassionate doctor, friend, and family member. He leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Karen; daughters Nora Stevens (Sam Stevens) and Lyn Tran (Vincent Diep); grandchildren Sylvia and Calvin Stevens and Amanda and Oscar Yip; sister Sharon Pease; nieces Julie Pease Quelet (Paul Quelet) and Jaclyn Pease, as well as many cousins. His son Paul predeceased him. 

Memorials for Ken will take place privately. Remembrance in Ken’s name may be made to FINCA (finca.org), a charity that he spent more than 30 years actively promoting.
