Kevin Anderson

Kevin Dale Anderson, age 55, passed away from cancer on Thursday, March 5, 2026 in his Tampa, Florida home.  He didn’t share his diagnosis because he wanted to live the life he had, enjoying his favorite things and people without the cancer and treatments in the way of his joy.

 

Kevin was born in Waseca, Minnesota on September 26, 1970 to Kenneth and Shirley (Ruedy) Anderson.  Graduating from Waseca High School in 1989, he went on to become a perfectionist in his welding career.  His sense of adventure moved him to Oregon for a few years and then Hawaii for a few more years.  Coming back to Minnesota, he met Hank Helfter in Hollandale, Minnesota and they married September 7, 2013 in a ceremony in their beautiful gardens at their country home.

 

Eventually Kevin and Hank bought a home in Tampa, Florida where they crafted a wonderful oasis for themselves, taking the house down to the studs and remodeling the entire home, and filling their ½ acre with exotic plants, trees and florals.  Kevin enjoyed making delicious meals and hosting gatherings and creating one of a kind furniture out of recycled wood and other things he could use.  He was extremely talented and was able to take a vision and make things happen with his creativity and ‘can do’ attitude.  Family was important to him, he adored his many nieces and nephews and as they had babies, his grand nieces and nephews felt his love.  Most of all, Kevin had a kind, playful heart, and loved and respected everyone he met.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Brenda Heaps; brother, Todd Anderson; and brother-in-law, Troy Warweg.

 

He is survived by his sisters, Sandi (Randy) Prange of Waseca, Kathy (Tom) Wichmann of St. Petersburg, FL, and Julie Warweg of Ocklawaha, FL; brother, Mike (Mary Jo Knudson) Anderson of Waseca; aunts, Lois Johnson and Jean Huntington; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He is also survived by Hank’s large family from Osage and New Haven, Iowa.
