Patricia Borst

Patricia Ellen (Nelson) Borst, age 85, of St. Peter passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Ecumen Prairie Hill in St. Peter.
Born on August 30, 1938 in Faribault, she was the daughter of Joseph and Jennie “Ruth” (Davis) Nelson. As a young girl, Pat worked at Kresge Five and Dime and Piggly Wiggly Grocery. She graduated from Faribault High School with the class of 1957. She was united in marriage to Francis Borst on April 11, 1959 in Vallejo, California. After getting married, they were stationed in Hawaii for a year before returning to Faribault. They lived most of their lives together in Waterville. Pat worked at Livingoods Bakery in Waterville as a cook. Guests would come from all around for her perfect eggs and to see her incredible smile. She owned B&B Bait Shop for 35 years with her husband.
The past nine years Pat lived at Ecumen Prairie Hill in St. Peter. She made many friends with her kindness and radiant smile. You could always find her helping another resident or staff. While there, Pat loved playing bingo, cards, arts and crafts, and singing karaoke. More than anything, Pay loved spending time with her family. She taught many grandchildren how to play Yahtzee, Sorry, Cribbage, and Rummy. Farkle was her latest favorite. She also enjoyed reading, puzzles, and crosswords. Pat will forever be remembered for her delicious chocolate chip cookies, long hugs, beautiful smile, and kindness.
Pat is survived by her children, Guy (Leah) Borst of Waterville, Diane (Bradley Casper) Borst of Waterville, Scott (Lisa) Borst of Waterville, Kim (Stephen Morsching) Borst of Madison Lake; eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and sisters-in-law, Kathleen Borst, Sherry Martinez, and Charlene Hagle. She was preceded in death by her husband, both parents, four brothers, and one sister.
At Pat’s request, her remains have been donated to the University of Minnesota Anatomical Bequest Program. Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 PM on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at the Waterville Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service. Dsofuneral.com
