Keith second in all-around as WHS gymnasts compete at Fairmont

It was a great weekend for the Waseca gymnastics team. The Bluejays traveled to Fairmont Saturday, Jan.7 to face Fairmont-Martin County West, Jackson County Central, and Blue Earth Area.

A handful of gymnasts placed high at the meet. Freshman Layla Keith had the best day, finishing second in all-around with a score of 33.9. She took first place on the vault with an 8.825 score and took the gold in the uneven parallel bars event with an 8.125. She also placed fifth on the floor exercise with a score of 8.7. Katelyn Weber took sixth on the vault with an 8.65 score.

The junior varsity gymnasts also had a good day. Macy Anderson placed third on the balance beam with a score of 7, while Maddie Root took fifth in all-around with a 23.65 score.

The Bluejays travel to St. James Friday, Jan. 13.
