Tennis off to perfect start

The Waseca High School girls' tennis team is off to a perfect start to the 2023 season.
Literally.
After three dual meets, the Bluejays are 3-0.
The most recent win was Tuesday, when the Jays upended Worthington 6-1 Tuesday on the WHS courts.
Waseca won three of four singles matches. Sarah Haley swept 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 while Maddy Benson dominated 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3. Addie Pfeiffer prevailed 6-0, 6-0 at fourth singles.
The Trojans' lone win was at No. 1 singles, where Takya Schoenrock dropped a close 7-5, 4-6, 10-3 decision.
Waseca was equally impressive at doubles, where the Jays dropped just three games. Mia Kanewischer and Elizabeth Roessler rolled 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1, Paige Dufault and Vivian Mader triumphed 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2, and Esme Pearce and Ashton Jenzen were victorious 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3.
Waseca's junior varsity lost 2-1.
The Bluejays won twice on Thursday, Aug. 17, defeating Austin 6-1 and Tri-City United 6-1 in Waseca.
Singles winners against Austin: Haley, No. 2, 6-2, 6-4; Benson, No. 3, 6-0, 6-2; and Mader, No. 4, 6-2, 6-1. Schoenrock was defeated 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles.
Kanewischer and Roessler had a bit of a tussle at No. 1 doubles, where they won 6-3, 7-6 (7). Pfeiffer and Dufault won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2. Jensen and Pierce rallied for a 3-6, 6-2, 11-9 victory at No. 3.
The Bluejays' junior varsity split, defeating Tri-City United 5-2 while falling 4-2 to Austin, while Austin beat TCU 6-1.

Kanewischer and Roessler cruised 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles while Pfeiffer and Dufault won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3. TCU's win was at No. 3 doubles, where Jensen and Pearce fell 6-7 (4), 6-4, 10-7.
The Bluejays traveled to the Mound-Westonka Doubles Invitational Monday, Aug. 21, finishing third with two points. Waconia won with 14 and the home team was second with 11.
Roessler and Kanewischer teamed for one of the Bluejays' victories. Benson and Mader also prevailed.
Waseca travels to Farmington on Friday to face Farmington at 9 a.m. and Jordan starting at 11 a.m.
