WHS gymnasts sweep Blue Earth Area

The Waseca High School gymnastics team had a big night Thursday, Feb. 2, defeating Blue Earth Area at both the varsity and junior varsity level.

"What a great night for us!" said Waseca coach Kim Wendland.

The varsity won 128.2-127.0.

Layla Keith captured the all-around crown for the Bluejays, totaling 34.025 points. BEA's Addison Armstrong was second at 33.75.

Keith finished first on the uneven parallel bars at 7.875, third on the balance beam, 8.05; first on floor exercise, 9.25; and second in vault, 8.85.

The Bluejays faced St. Peter in a rescheduled meet Monday, Feb. 6. They compete in the Big South meet Friday, Feb. 10 at a time and site to be determined.
